Diwali, Lunar New Year, Eid: Paint-by-Numbers for Multicultural Celebrations
·
Lily – Be Artistic Club

A Diwali celebration table with diyas, marigolds and a paint-by-numbers canvas of a rangoli pattern in progress.

Diwali in October-November, Lunar New Year in January-February, Eid throughout the year — Australian community life and aged care lifestyle calendars now sit firmly across multiple traditions.

Paint-by-numbers is one of the most inclusive ways to mark them. The activity is the same; the imagery honours the culture.

Diwali Subjects

Rangoli patterns, lit diyas, peacock motifs, mandala designs. The strong geometric forms and saturated colour palettes translate beautifully into numbered canvases.

A simple rangoli kit makes a lovely group activity in the week leading up to Diwali.

Lunar New Year and Eid

Lunar New Year: red lanterns, the zodiac animal of the year, plum blossoms. Eid: geometric Islamic patterns, lanterns, crescent moons in calm palettes.

All translate well to numbered formats and work for both home and group settings.

For Aged Care and Schools

Multicultural calendar dates are an easy win for lifestyle and education programs, and they fit straight into our aged care and retirement living programs. A custom or pre-designed kit tied to the date does more cultural work than most one-off events.

Frame the finished pieces and rotate them through the year as each celebration comes around.

If you run a lifestyle program or community space, building a small library of culturally specific kits is one of the quieter, more genuinely inclusive things you can do this year.
